Treasury Announcement
Treasury Announcement
Who: The US Treasury
When: Every Two Weeks
What: On a quarterly basis, the U.S. Treasury announces its funding needs for the next two quarters. The announcement includes which securities will be offered and the schedule for their announcement, auction and settlement.
Every two weeks, the Treasury further announces the size of the individual auctions for the following week.
Why: This announcement is significant because it indicates the magnitude of the supply of new Treasuries which will be added to the market. The greater the supply, the higher the yield required to attract investors to purchase the Treasuries.
